The very first episode of Numb3rs, on January 23, 2005, featured an account, based on fact, of a serial rapist. The actual crimes were committed by the "Southside Rapist" in Lafayette LA in the 1990's. The police department there called in Dr. Kim Rossmo -- a Detective Inspector with the Vancouver Police Department, who has a doctorate in criminology from Simon Fraser University (British Columbia).
