Well, last night's show "End Game" hit a new low. Aside from the word "cylinder" in connection with the proposed Epps family silo, there was nothing I recognized as serious mathematics. In fact, there was nothing I recognized as serious period.
First of all, there's this OODA baloney: Observe-Orient-Decide-Act. This has absolutely nothing to do with mathematics and possibly little to do with the military in which it's supposedly some sort of guiding principle... continued »

Old wine in new casks: "Dirichlet Tesselations" are the same as Voronoi diagrams, a topic I blogged in December of 2005.
Interestingly, like so much of the math in recent episodes, this turns out to be largely irrelevant to the plot. The usual FBI gang simply stakes out the last site on the captured GPS device and finds a lead to the bombers... continued »
