The real mathematics in last Friday's show was not the phony game theory of "tit for tat" ("you agress if he agresses"), but was hidden in the use of fMRI: functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Medical imaging techniques such as CAT scans (Computer-Assisted Tomography), PET scans (Positron Emission Tomography) and MRIs are possibly the most important applications of physics and mathematics in the past 50 years... continued »
