Vision
The School of Architecture at Northeastern University has long been interested in, and engaged with, addressing the practical design problems facing Boston and the region. These problems have included the need for affordable housing, design guidelines for larger buildings, and regional design plans. The school has accomplished a great deal in working on housing need in several parts of Boston, Malden, Somerville, Salem, and other distinct parts of the region. The School has dedicated itself to the challenges that face cities like Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and other successful post-industrial cities as they deal with the seemingly opposing forces of globalization and historic character.
